A demand-oriented material requirements planning (MRP) is the task of a production planning system (usually part of an ERP system). This planning is used to generate the production orders in the ERP system that are to be processed in production.
However, dynamic order scheduling can enormously reduce lead times in order processing, which also reduces the cash to cash cycle time. Good planning algorithms have a direct positive influence on scheduling efficiency and setup reduction of the production orders and the occupancy rate of the workplaces. An increase in scheduling efficiency leads directly to a reduction of the work-in-process inventory. Because these key performance indicators are determined for each planning scenario stored in the IoT platform, different planning scenarios can easily be compared with each other, see

The performance of different planning algorithms can also be compared using these key figures. Because each platform user is manufacturer-independent when choosing the planning algorithm, the most suitable applications for detailed order planning can be selected for the respective production facility. Cutting-edge solutions as well as simple planning algorithms such as those used in MES can be applied.
