The setup phase duration is simply the sum of the durations of all setup phases, while the setup time is the sum of the durations of all operating states assigned to the time base setup. The first can be found in operations/{id}/recordedOperationPhases, the latter in operations/{id}/recordedOperatingStates?timeBase=SETUP or the workstation analog in workplaces/{id}/recordedOperationPhases and workplaces/{id}/recordedOperatingStates?timeBase=SETUP

Additional note: The only information in the recorded operation phases that is relevant for the calculation of key performance indicators is the execution time of the operations.

This is a good question, which many others probably also have. The difference has something to do with the way data is acquired at the shop floor terminal. When the operator presses the “Start setup” button, the setup phase begins until it is completed by pressing the ” Complete setup” or “Start processing” button. In the latter case, the processing phase begins immediately. If frequent intermediate set-ups are required during the processing phase, the operator does not want to have to press a button all the time. However, to ensure that the setup times within the processing phase are taken into account when calculating the setup reduction and process availability, they are included in the setup time even though they did not occur during the setup phase. The duration of the setup phase is then shorter than the setup time, in which the sum of the times for intermediate setup is added to the duration of the setup phase.
